LET IT BE A DANCE

For the origional RIC MASTEN version ()

DAVID JOYCE and family have been among Ric and Billie Barbara's friends for over 30 years. The Jimmy Joyce Singers were a well known singing group in the '50s and 60s doing lots of TV and studio work. When touring in the LA area the Mastens always stayed with the Joyces — Jimmy, Betty and sons: Jon, Jeff, Randy and the two little guys David and Bob. Over the years Jimmy and Randy passed but the relationship with the Joyces is as strong and close as ever. Ric was the officiant at Bob and Shirlie's wedding a few years ago. Now this is a SINGING family and Jon, David and Bob do a lot of studio singing these days, for commercials, TV shows, movies, etc. Recently Ric had another long time friend, Dick Dodge pass and Dick's family wanted Ric to come to down to LA for the memorial service and sing Let It Be a Dance. Health issues kept Ric form doing this but he remembered that David Joyce had learned it and so the Dodge family had David come and do the honers at the service. David's wonderful rendition is the result of all this. For David's rendition ()

BARBARA BRUSSELL is a brilliant performer, just now coming in to her own. She has that special thing.... innate talent, a very strong presence, star quality. Her time has come and the attention she is commanding these days is well deserved. Barbara Brussell is totally unique. She has known Ric Masten most of her life, attending his readings and concerts as a teenager. Best friends with his three daughters, you could almost say she grew up at his knee. And now, all these years later she takes his songs, breaths new life into them, so that they can take to the sky and fly again. Click on Barbara's name to hear a clip from their 3/10/02 show FROM BIG SUR TO BROADWAY at Danny's Skylight Room, NYC. For Barbara's rendition ()
